Consulting
One of my great pleasures is helping people clarify their thoughts, and then expand upon them!! Over the 30 years in which I was in the IT field, that’s where I excelled. Every position I held in the corporate world was something completely different when I left the position. I find ways to make processes and systems effective and efficient, no matter which field we are working in. The Wealth Dynamics system calls me a “mechanic”, which means I am great at helping other people clarify and execute their ideas.
Here are some ways I have satisfied this part of myself:
- A decorative painter knows she needs to do “social media” but she paints all day, and by the time she gets home she’s exhausted. Since she already knew how to post pictures from her phone to Facebook, I suggested she take a picture a day and post it. Pictures of what? Doesn’t matter, just get your work in front of me on a consistent basis, so that when I hear or think “decorative painting” the first person I think of is you. She started doing it, and now I do!
- A hairdresser I know was struggling to get more clients. He had tried all the traditional marketing in his industry; mailings, advertising, even door hangers. All with limited results. Luckily, he knew exactly where most of his new business was coming from – referrals from existing clients. So I recommended that he reward those people. He started putting their names on his mirror, thanking them for the referrals. He also started sending thank you cards from Send Out Cards and included cookies with the card as a thank you for the referral. He didn’t advertise it, he just did it. Very rapidly his referral business began to expand, and he’s now booked out at least two weeks, often three.
- A woman I know who has been in the marketing field for many years. However, her passion is in helping others through her health and wellness business. She called me with an idea about walking up to overweight strangers in the grocery store, letting them know that she could help them. So I asked her one question “Does everyone in your life know that you have a program to help people get healthier”? No, they do not. “Wouldn’t that be an easier way to find people who need what you do, by accessing the vast network of people who already know, like and trust you”? Yes, she agreed, that felt like a much better way to transform her life. She’s just begun to set up meetings with everyone she knows, and she knows a lot of people! Time will tell, but I have every confidence she will be successful in this career, as much as she was in her marketing career.
Another underlying principle in my business (and life!) is that whatever I do it has to be simple and easy to do. If it’s too complicated or takes too much time, then I know I won’t do it. I look at your business the same way I look at my own business. The more I know about who you are and what you do, the more help I can be to you. We start with small steps that when done with consistency will lead your business to greater success. I have been working with small businesses since 1997, helping them focus and find what works for their business. If you would like to find that same clarity and focus, let’s talk!!
